What’s included in the farm visit? What should I bring?
All tours include transportation, the farm tour and activity, and lunch. We’ll give you an opportunity to stop by the farm store (for those sites that have them) before we head back to the city, so if you’d like to bring some food back with you, we recommend bringing a little extra cash. All tours involve moderate amounts of physical exercise and walking on uneven terrain, so please dress accordingly.
Are the trips child-friendly?
At the moment, our tour activities are geared towards adults, and children under the age of 12 are not permitted. In the spring, we’ll be launching tours specifically with families in mind, so stay tuned!
Do I need to bring my ticket with me?
Nope! Just give us the name the ticket is under when you arrive, and we will check you in. Feel free to send a friend in your place if you are unable to attend, and we will check them in under your name.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Trips are all-weather, but we’ll adjust the activity according to the conditions. In the event of a genuine weather emergency (Snow storm, hurricane, etc), we’ll issue you a refund.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel your ticket, we will issue you a full refund if you contact us prior to 72 hours before the event. If you cancel less than 72 hours before the event, we can offer you a credit for the ticket to a future RootedNY event, less any credit card and processing fees. Please send us an email via our contact page for any cancellations.
What happens if I don’t want to collect eggs/ meet a chicken/ pick oysters?
We’ll never make you do something you don’t want to do, and you are welcome to sit out of any activity. If you’re coming out with us to read your book in the peace and quiet of the country, more power to you! We just ask that if you don’t stay with the group, you behave respectfully towards the farm and farmer (i.e., don’t go on a pick-your-own rampage!).
Can I book a private trip with you?
Absolutely! Contact us here and we’ll get right back in touch to work out the details.
